An unexpected treat

Perhaps some of you are familiar with this published author…I have to admit I wasn’t! But Leandra Summers has stepped forward to say she would like to participate in our annual holiday exchange, and that her contribution would be to make one of her novellas available for free download on one day only.

So on Monday, January 7, her story “Emily’s Choice” will be available on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KXZWZ9B. The best way to thank Leandra for this generous offer is to leave a review on Amazon after reading her story. (I have been told that Amazon doesn’t allow reviews unless one has purchased a minimum amount, so if you are unable to do so, please at least leave her a comment on this post. However authors really benefit by reviews, so if you are able to do so, please write one.)

Mark your calendars, enjoy discovering a new author, and be sure to let Leandra know how much you enjoyed her contribution! (P.S. She does have other works available on Amazon, so look those up if you like what you read. 🙂 )

Hey Alyx…please let me know if you are able to access my book that I have listed for free for 7th January tomorrow . I have received a strange message from Amazon saying they feel the content is not suitable and so they can no longer offer it. I am quite surprised as it is no different to any other of my books and contains no bdsm nor erotica. I have written to query this. However I am concerned if people go to download it tomorrow and it’s not there.
It is currently still there when I checked.
I would also be interested to know if anyone else who publishes spanking romance on Amazon received a similar email?

Hi Leandra, I have just clicked on the link and the book is still there. Hopefully it will still be there tomorrow. I have not had that happen to me, but I have heard of it happening to some people who publish same-sex kink. It seems quite arbitrary and some people are able to “fly under the radar” and then suddenly capture Amazon’s notice and have their work censured. It’s quite unfair, because they seem to judge gay content more harshly than hetero content! I hope they respond positively to your inquiry….please keep us updated? I’m sure it’s of concern to many of us.

(Btw, due to geographical differences, tomorrow is still Sunday the 6th in the states. But I will check tomorrow as well. *crossing fingers*)

Thanks for your speedy reply Alyx. What is so odd is that it is those two books only, yet the other two discipline romance novels I wrote have not been mentioned by them as being ‘offensive’. And goodness…as for same sex scenes…my romance novels have more ‘same sexy scenes’ than those with spanking in. All my novels have a dominant lady…but it seems they object more to spankings than any sex scene. It is very confusing…as I feel my spanking scenes are very vanilla and quite mild.
I actually had once contacted Amazon and made a complaint because they refused an advert for one of my romance novels. I challenged them saying how could they could allow very erotic heterosexual books to be advertised but then refuse a loving lesbian one that has no erotica in it. They did apologise. I may that have to do the same again. It is truly a horrible feeling to end up feeling one is ‘offensive’ for merely being lesbian and enjoying otk spanking.

Hooray…It’s working and I see many copies are downloaded already. I am not going to even write to them about their email…perhaps keeping quiet and hoping they forget their unpleasant email is best!
    Happy reading everyone!

Thanks Leandra. Looking forward to reading it later 🙃

I hope you enjoy it though I fear the spanking is a lot tamer than many of the spankings you ladies read and write about. I might be just a tiny bit wimpy when it comes to spankings!! However we are all different and it is that difference that makes all of us so wonderful.
I often wonder how come some of you ladies who write so well are not publishing on Amazon?

Thank you so much for doing this gift Leandra. I’ve left a review on Amazon. Excellent story. Loved it! 😊

    • Alyx says:

Yes, I was able to download it successfully and am looking forward to reading it! I’m glad Amazon decided not to pursue whatever weird email they sent. Thanks again for your gift! 🙂

        Pleasure.
Question: As you publish on Amazon as well do you have the same experience as me…my book are listed for $3.99 or $2.99 (although my account is on the co.uk site I set a $ price as that is where most sales occur). Yet I notice the listed price is often higher or lower e.g. two of my books show as $5. Given Amazon’s arbitrary decisions on what is offensive or not I am wary of questioning with them in case they decide all my stories are offensive whilst looking into the pricing issue. Do you or anyone else published on Amazon have this experience with pricing?

        • Alyx says:

Sorry not to reply sooner, Leandra! Somehow I overlooked this question. My prices are the same as what I’ve listed on the US site, though on other sites they are in the local currency. So because of the exchange rate, it’s a lower figure in the UK, and higher figure in Australia. Is that what you meant?

But if you mean that all your books are the same price except for a couple, then that is strange and I have no idea why that would be. That hasn’t happened with any of my books. Are some part of a lending library or don’t have DRM or something like that?

I almost forgot. 😳 I fell asleep and just remembered to download it before midnight. Though I suppose midnight in Europe wouldn’t have been the time limit. 🤣 Thank you, Leandra. I haven’t read it yet, but I have read Marla and Emma and Melissa.
