Hi SP. You can’t post on the “About” page because I disabled the comments for that page. It’s normally (when you look at other people’s blogs) a simple page which has a biography and/or a few words about what the blogger wants to share about themselves. But since I didn’t have any place for people to make generic comments, they were using that page. And I could see it going on and on….which I didn’t think was a good idea. Which is why I created the “Bug Alyx Here” page instead.
Was there something specific you needed to say on that page? Was it to comment about my new quote? (Or complain about me changing it? *bg*) I think if I saved all the quotes I’m planning to use it would go on forever, as I have a LOT of favorite quotes. However I’m open to it, if other people

Hmm…you’re not succeeding very well, are you? 😆 No, I’m just teasing. If those are not-so-subtle reminders that you’re waiting for my next story, then rest assured I have not forgotten about it. Unfortunately have not had time to work on it recently. And there are a bunch of social (and other) engagements coming up, so I probably won’t get to work on it this week much either. 😦 (I know, I’m not happy about it either.)
But as I said before, I am at least 2/3 through, so it hopefully won’t be too much longer.

Well, I’ve now read all of your presently-posted stories (of which I think Taken By Surprise is my favorite, incidentally), and I find myself a little sad that I have nothing of comparable quality to read for the time being. I can certainly understand that you’re busy, but geez, you have a responsibility to your many fans to keep our impatient, greedy appetites for good writing at bay! XD

True, it was significantly shorter, but I thought it introduced an interesting and important new dynamic to their relationship- that of spanking for psychological release, a “because you needed it” session. I appreciated the detail put into that aspect. 🙂

(And as for needing some top-ly motivation, you are the third person to suggest such a thing, which frankly surprises me. My goodness, if I didn’t know better, I’d think people want to see me spanked! *shocked* The very idea!)
So, having decided that you are definitely an instigator and deserve everything that comes of it since you did label this section “Bug Alyx Here” knowing that it would drive some of your readers to do so, I figured I would give in to my impulse. So, how’s the story writing coming along? Anything new yet? I know it’s only been a short span of time since your last story was finished and posted, but impatient readers want to know! And we can’t help it if we’re addicted to your wonderful writing, because it is pretty fantastic and we just can’t resist but pester you until there’s some more.

Your stories are rich with the delicate social intimacies between top and bottom that gives one a sense of solidarity and community within the often misunderstood sapphic domestic discipline lifestyle. Reading your tales and the comments of these lovely ladies has convinced me to make the leap and sign up for an account. I am also writing my own tales of DD, though I am no where near making a public debut. I eagerly await your next yarn although I see that you have many brats to take care of as of late and I am glad I joined after that little party. But in the end decided to share that decision with me, which I am grateful for because I was also considering joining (although I would have enjoyed tanning her cute little bottom!). I noticed as I perused through the comments that there seemed to be quite a number more subs than tops on here, so I figured I would help level the playing field. Seeing that I just happened to stumble into this most definitely new world (and haven’t been able to pull myself away for the past week and a half) I would like to thank Fizzy, Alyx, Loki and all the other brats for unknowingly filling me in on a lot through blogs and stories. I haven’t laughed so much in quite awhile. You are a witty bunch and it warms my inner brat heart.
One thing I kind of noticed through some of the stories is a reoccurring detail that has caused me much thought and question. Are Tops ALWAYS older than their brats/bottoms? I do admit that it is hard to imagine a 20something Top and a 30something brat/bottom. Funny, but hard to imagine. The question is why? I never believed age was a given for knowing what is best for someone or for containing knowledge. I guess I always found the wisest people were those who have lived life’s experiences. I have met some very well grounded women who put me to shame when I hear how old they are.
Anyway, I haven’t come across a story yet where the ages were reversed and I guess I’m just questioning why.

Okay, I can’t speak for everyone, because I obviously haven’t read ALL the kinky stories out there (not for lack of trying, mind). But it’s true that most of them seem to follow that pattern, and I think that makes sense. As you say, the wisest people are GENERALLY those with the most life experience, and most people gain life experience as they age. However that’s just a general rule and there are lots of old idiots and young sages. Another factor you haven’t mentioned is that ideal tops (and stories mostly portray ideals) are the ones with more patience, and frequently one learns to “go with the flow” more as one gets older. As you get older you really start to appreciate what is truly important, and what is not worth getting your undies in a twist over. (Again, speaking generally, because there are lots of exceptions.)
All that said, however, there is absolutely no reason why a top couldn’t be younger than a bottom. I am a switch, and in my previous relationship I bottomed to someone who was younger than me. And in the relationship before that, though my partner wasn’t exactly a top, she did spank me and she was a good 15 years younger! So yes, it can and does happen. Why haven’t I written a story about that? I have no idea! It’s never occurred to me before, I guess, simply because age isn’t really a big deal to me either. But now that you’ve brought it to my attention, I think I would like to write a story in which the top is younger than the bottom. *smile* When I start writing again, that is.

Well I did the required research and the age most everywhere is 18 :).

Even though I feel my bratty side kicking in with a vengeance after this post “The Top Handbook only suggests that you don’t spank in anger. It realizes there are extenuating circumstances when brats would drive a saint to losing patience. *vbg*” I will try my best to be civil.
So why does this comment irk me so much? Well because it was you who, in a round about way, told me that Top’s shouldn’t spank in anger. It was something I respected. It was something, I thought, was included in the “trust” package.
Sure there are little things here and there where I feel is completely unfair to the brat and that Tops sometimes take advantage of being the top; but this……..this was something I thought was a rule. It was the line that separated love and caring from abuse. Now I don’t know. Maybe it is all about power, control and dominance but you never gave me that impression before. Well you, fizzy and 10thMuse didn’t; now Loki on the other hand is a different story.
I guess that comment and hers just felt so uncaring that if pissed me off. It doesn’t change my opinion of you and I’m sorry if I’m in the wrong here but I had to say it.
I’m glad you decided to be civil. *g* And I’m glad you took the time to post about something that was bothering you, although the original exchange occurred on Loki’s blog, it should be noted.
So, first of all, let me say that my comment about the Top Handbook was intended as a joke, as we both know such a thing doesn’t exist, any more than the Brat Manual exists. Various “quotes” from both books are thrown about freely precisely because anyone can make up whatever they feel like. So it’s used as an indirect way for tops and bottoms/brats to take little jabs at each other and joke around. On my part, at least, the jabs are done with humor and affection, not malice. And the “vbg” (very big grin) was supposed to tip you off that I was teasing. If it appeared that I was serious in any way, then I apologize and want to assure you I was not.
Now whether it should be a “rule” probably depends on the two people involved in the relationship. Certainly it gets broken at times, even with the best of intentions, because even tops are human beings. But if you’re asking me whether I personally believe it to be a good practice, the answer is that I do. I think it’s a good practice to avoid doing ANYTHING when in the grip of anger, though I will admit to still struggling to put that into practice when it comes to things like discussions over relationships (as TMT will probably attest to 🙂 ).
I have purposely avoided punishing a brat when truly angry, both because I wanted to be calm enough to be fair, and because (for me) spanking is ultimately connected with caring, and I had to be of the right frame of mind to engage in it. There are different strokes for different folks and I would never judge another person’s preferences with regards to TTWD. But for me it is never just about power, control and dominance. There is a difference to reading/writing fantasy material about such things, or getting off on them, and engaging that way in real life.
If you want to know my philosophy on how a top should be (albeit very idealized), then you can find it mainly in my stories. I hope that clarifies things. 🙂
As this references me, let me make myself clear, albeit in far blunter tones than Alyx, whose patience I must applaud.
Atrocious Lex is a story about fictional people. It is NOT a manual on relationships. If you get upset about a fictional story, well, in one way I suppose it might mean it’s well written, or it might mean it’s being taken too seriously. Either way, both Alyx’s and my responses to your comment were lighthearted.
I don’t write perfect characters. My tops aren’t models. Don’t take them as such. In the Atrocious Lex series especially, pretty much everyone is flawed beyond belief.
I think it goes without saying that beating real people out of anger is bad, but if it doesn’t, well, there I just said it.

Assuming you know anything about her based on her stories is clearly in error, because anyone who does know her would know your insinuation is insulting and untrue. But I do think a sense of humor is important — I’m not one of those kinds of tops that takes myself seriously all the time. And I’ve heard it said that “the top may be in charge, but the bottom is in control.” I think that’s quite true. You might reflect on that when you think things are unfair for the brat.

So … they spend the last night in their cell with Loki again otk on Callie’s knee but this time it’s a farewell spanking, gentle and emotional. All ends well: Loki back to her bf and Callie’s new gf is waiting for her outside the gate. 🙂

Callie didn’t kill the creep who killed her lover. She isn’t a lifer. Loki isn’t evil and her bad behavior seems to be the result of making poor choices in trying to do good deeds. The kind guard probably knows about the plot and could very likely show up at the cemetary to bring them ‘home’.
It seems that Loki still has much to learn, and Callie has much to teach her. Maybe in time Callie’s broken heart can mend and her feelings toward the little fish will change.
I did, in fact, let Loki know how awesome the last chapter was. It is she who told me it is your turn.

The serious answer: It’s only overdue in the sense that culturally we’re supposed to go into the New Year with a clean house. And I’d be further along in that if I hadn’t had the most awful end-of-2011 (medical procedures, guests, work, holiday stress, etc.) which set me back. I’m really hoping for a better year this year! 🙂
The not-so-serious answer: The Top Manual, Law #1: “Do as I say, not as I do.” 😆 But actually, brats are not held to a different standard. You can ask my brat if she has any overdue tasks, and I’m sure she’ll admit she does. And you can also ask my sometimes-top if she has any overdue tasks, and I am sure she will admit to some as well. Alyx, I think they’re all forgetting who the boss is around here! It’s high time you got that wimpy ruler of yours out and started asserting your authority!
Alyx stares at Sandy in astonishment. “You know, you’re absolutely right! I’ve been sadly remiss in more than one area!” She picks up her sturdy wooden ruler and marches over to Basketball Girl. Grabbing her by the ear, she leads her over to a nearby chair, and pulls her easily over her knee.
“It’s a good thing you’re wearing these thin basketball shorts,” Alyx says with satisfaction. “I won’t need to pull them down for you to feel this.” So saying, she lifts her ruler and brings it down with a loud SMACK. Several more follow, painting stripes across BG’s wriggling bottom. Then with a speed that leaves the miscreant breathless, Alyx stands and marches her over to the corner.
“Put your nose there and behave yourself!” she orders, with one last stinging swat. “I have other brats to attend to!”
SP is the next to be led by her ear and pulled down over Alyx’s lap. “Party time, is it? Well, let’s see how much you enjoy the celebration!” The wooden implement rises and falls again, landing with loud reports against SP’s own cloth-covered “peaches.” Alyx ignores the cries that emerge, delivering whack after whack till she is sure the message has gotten through. Then SP is led to another corner, with one last stroke of the ruler and instructions to remain there if she knows what’s good for her.
Her own brat is next, as Fizzy is pulled into a familiar position and the ruler comes down with swift noisy strokes. “I guess this is another example of Trouble finding you,” Alyx says with a grim smile. “In fact, I think you have just given my hairbrush a name: Trouble!” She adds a few stingers to the tops of Fizzy’s thighs, causing even more kicking from the naughty wailing girl. Then Fizzy too is led to a corner.
“Hmm, running out of corners,” Alyx notes. “Good thing I only have one more brat to see to!”
Sandy backs away as Alyx approaches her. “But…but…I’m the one who reminded everyone about your authority!”
“Yes, indeed,” Alyx agrees as she levers her into a horizontal position over her knee. “That’s why I’m just going to use my palm on your naughty bottom!” And then her hand begins whacking, a bit muffled against Sandy’s clothing but with an impact that eventually leads to a very warm backside. Then the brat is lifted upright and led to the last corner.
“Thanks for the reminder, my friend,” Alyx whispers into her ear with a firm pat against Sandy’s left cheek. “Next time you get to feel how ‘wimpy’ my ruler can be!”
Alyx surveys the brats around her with a satisfied air, till she notices TMT’s raised brow. She blushes, then grins with a slight bow in her direction. “You’re right, honey. Assumptions can be unwise, and top-baiting always is. But I’m sure we’ll discuss that in more detail at some future date.” *smooch* 😉
Standing in the corner thinking to myself: It seems like we have been standing in this corner forever. I’ve been rubbing my stinging butt, seems to be getting a little better…***that ruler has to go and this time to an incinerator so that it does not cause any more pain*** These walls are really boring to stare at, maybe I could just slip the dry-erase marker out of my pocket and doddle some new basketball plays. That would help the time pass and maybe distract my thoughts away from the stinging. That should be fine, Alyx just said something about standing here…
From the reflection in the window, it looks like TMT is moving back there (maybe we’ll still get the audio from the “show” *g*) *whispering to SP, Fizzy, and Sandy*

If she brings down that polished, 1-inch (or is it 2-inch?) thick, 3-feet long piece of wood from her wall, you’ll be wishing that nasty ruler of hers doesn’t end up in the incinerator. And though walls are indeed boring to stare at, I do believe that looking down onto the floor isn’t the change of scenery you were thinking of. Just sayin’. *g*
Ah…ummm….no **suddenly have a sinking feeling in my stomach** I wasn’t aware that something like that even existed, but it doesn’t sound similar to a paddle you would use to row a canoe or even similar to wall art. (note to self: that piece of wood will fit in the incinerator too)

I start sending hand motions to SP about how we could get of this window that is near me. The next thing to get is to grab the ruler, wooden ass paddle, and the really big black bag of implementation (maybe Pippen with her incredible memory could help us out where these are). I’ll keep pushing on these walls to see if there are any secret passage ways that previous brats have built. We gotta do something to get out of this…*eg*

Alyx had had enough. Though Sandy was remarkably quiet, and Fizzy (for the moment) determined to be well-behaved, it seemed as if a mutiny was brewing. She decided to nip it in the butt. *g*
“All right, Sandy and Fizzy, you’re dismissed. Try to stay out of trouble, young ladies.” Alyx sent them on their way with firm swats to their seats with her palm. She bit back a grin as she saw them high five each other when they thought they were out of her sight.
“Basketball Girl and Sweet Peach, you may turn around.”
The two other miscreants left their corners, and gasped at the sight that met them. Alyx had retrieved the “big-ass paddle” which Pippin had referred to, and stood before them tapping it against her palm in an intimidating fashion.
“I actually haven’t used this paddle in years,” she said menacingly. “But the pledges who experienced it jumped quite high at the impact. Do either of you have trouble believing that?” Eyes wide, both brats shook their heads quickly.
“It would be wiser to contemplate how sore they must’ve been, from the safety of your beds, rather than see what kind of ‘show’ will happen if continue with your naughtiness….don’t you think?” Both brats nodded, looking rather faint.
“Then get going!” They headed for the door at a fast clip, but didn’t get away scot free. Each brat received a sharp *POP* from the paddle right before they reached the door.
“OW! HEY!” Alyx shut the door quietly on their surprised faces. She carefully put the paddle back up on the wall with a grin. “Ah….those were the days.” 🙂
*looking down at the ground* I’m sorry Alyx for being disrespectful and not following your directions. I will try to do a better. Then I quietly walk away (quite sore), hoping to never feel that big ass paddle again and hoping Alyx is not too disappointed in me.

I have the germ of a story idea running thru my head that has me wishing I had the ovaries to attempt to write it myself. (Not gonna happen. ) So, I offer you this scenario in hopes you might wish to do something with it. {…nudge…poke…}
You have exclusive access to an Olivia cruise ship, and you personally invite everyone included on your cruise….(ie TMT,Loki, Alyx, Fizzy, Nicki, Cassie and her band, Gena Gershon…whomever floats your boat, its your party, your fantasy group)…and what follows are conversations/incidents/encounters between various passengers. The action can be on board or in port. The encounters can be lone musings, one-on-one, several people, or a large group. Bon Voyage! […but do try to keep Loki from climbing the walls!]
LOL, that idea does have so much potential, Sparrow! I can imagine a lot of action of all sorts happening on that Lurv Boat! 😀 But I definitely think you should attempt that story yourself…after all, it is your idea. However I doubt that anyone could prevent Loki from climbing anything if she set her mind to it. 😆

Loki also baited me to try writing a story. However, it is not something I have done since…a very long time. I did actually begin something titled ‘When Tops Collude’, and got up to aroung 6500 words before being thwarted by my own critique. Writing essays, business proposals, contracts, and procedural documentation is a loooooooong way from writing a good story, creating characters, and composing scenes with good dialogue in character enough to tell who is speaking without actually using a name. Having a good vocabulary and a ‘way with words’ doesn’t make a writer any more than being overly dramatic makes one a great actress. But I make a helluva great reader….and just as every great actress needs an audiance, so do accomplished authors. So I remain, the appreciative recipiant of the fruits of your labors, the gifts from your muse, the wonder of your imagination.
I did see Loki’s post, and her pics as well. I may have to re-think my assumptions about her upper arm strength. 😆 She is indeed all that you say!
You had a great title there, and 6500 words in a story is an accomplishment! It’s too bad you didn’t finish it. But I do appreciate all you do as an audience — you do make a great reader, Sparrow…thank you! 🙂
Actually, I am still working on it, because my OCD won’t let me leave anything undone, even if I am the only one who will read it. Keeps me humble makes me appreciate a good book even more.

A) at the mini story where the ‘brats’ had the party why did they all stay..DUHHHH RUN!!! scatter u can ONLY get one maybe or 2 if ure lucky..and as the bear proveb goes..u DONT HAVE TO BE FAST>..just NOT THE LAST ONE!! snicker snicker!!
b) the comments about the ‘whimpy rule” (roflmfao)..uhmm girls u didnt think it totally thru..u have someone OUTSIDE the window to toss all the bag too..they take off..and later we all have a luau with those as the fuel..OR better still..throw the bag into the volcano n appease the fire god!!! 🙂

Welcome Allm9! Thank you for taking the time to stop by and post. Let me see if I can address your comments in order….
1) I am indeed THAT OLD. But it is rude of you to make a comment like that about someone you don’t even know, and unwise to point it out to a top in any case. (Btw, I have also had a partner who was 12 years older than me, and all ages in between…I fall in love with the person, not the number.)
2) I’m glad you enjoyed those posts. Now as to why the brats stayed at the party, it was probably because: a) they were wise enough to know they should take the punishment they earned, as brats who cause havoc and run away are soon not very welcome, and b) a sore bottom passes in time, helped along by cuddles and more naughty hijinks.
The same goes for the ruler (and any other implements) — there is a line which wise brats do not cross: It’s fine to joke about burning the paddles, and temporarily hiding the implements will be forgiven (after a good walloping). But I think the brats know running away with the ruler would only prolong the inevitable…. 🙂
3) Regarding your own thought processes: not knowing you, I would hesitate to assume anything. You sound like a brat, and a brat who is indeed “new to this sorta stuff.” I’m glad to hear you didn’t mean any disrespect, and I believe you. But a word to the wise? On the internet it’s all anonymous and easy to misinterpret things. If one makes a good first impression, one can always build on that. If one makes a bad one…sometimes one doesn’t get another chance. 🙂
Very true on all counts Alyx the way u wrote the answers made me realize some things..for first part, that is very reason i apoligized (makin a bad impression vs a good one) as i kept ruminating on what i said and realized people would take it wrong. I also sometimes latch onto something someone said/ wrote n need to understand (yeah here comes the part where i admit tact and i aren’t really close..lol).
So inregards to #2 A)i guess it therefore comes down ot accountablitiy right? ok i guess i get that then. Cuz if i screw up (which i do a lot..i know hard to believe right..lol) i admit it to the point that even if its not totally all my fault i wouldnt rat out the others but accept it all. I also get the one that runs wouldnt be welcome after awhile. As i strongly believe in fairness, However, no physical consequences were involved and as stated before…yeah would prove interesting..
B) i guess i understand that..(well to be honest i dont..cuz it if saves ure butt..hey works for me).. then again i guess that would just tick the person off more then wouldnt? (plus i cant destroy other people’s property..just aint in me but i might HELP someone else! 😛 )
3) Yep totally new to this! 🙂 to the point i keep talking/teasing my friend in other state about stuff n she keeps callin me a brat. Hi, Alyx. It seems we are both ‘women of a certain age’, and we are both vertically challenged. You are actually an inch taller than me. But I don’t have a topply bone in my body. Loki did have occassion to chide me for a certain toppliness in my comments, but she saw through my BS and rapped my knuckles smartly. ( A mature Switch is awesome, but a brat with a topply self-image can be downright scary, even if she is 15 years younger….Just sayin’.)
As a ‘recovering brat’ I feel a certain obligation to advise Allm9 against underestimating the awesome power of your toppliness. I once made the mistake of misjudging the gentle, loving and seemingly endless patience of the one-and-only love of my life in dealing with my hot temper, sarcasm and pedantic arrogance. Got my butt in a sling real quick… and taught me to never assume what a Top can, can’t, will or wont do to redirect a brat on a wayward path.
So, Allm9, don’t poke the bear, keep your head and your butt low, and never forget: Age, stature,sweet demeaner, rain, sleet, snow or dark of night will not deter a Top from their corrective duties! You can run, but they’re gonna git ya… in the end! I think you’ve come to the right place, in the nick of time. : )
roflmfao..well whatever that “certain age” is..they always say with age comes wisdom. However, dont always believe it ;P I think sometimes life experiences makes one, way more wise and knowledgeable about the world that age cannot. I also say in regards to age “im old enough to know better but young enough to say wtf and do it anyways!” 🙂 BUT i have to ask is ‘toppliness’ even a word? sorta have to admit though funny as i find it, i guess it fits.
And whatcha mean i’ve come to the right place, in the nick of time? I do not always make the best decisions, but I can tell you burning implements (even thinking, implying, dreaming) will result in your backside feeling as though it is on fire. Sparrow is right about not poking the bear, do not do it. And while there is a lot of fun and playful banter around here, directly acting on something you were warned not to do, will not get you pleasureful consequences and it is disrespectful to the Top. When one is trying to ‘find the fine line’ a slower approach may yield a more positive response. And I doubt seeing a Top with steam coming out of her ears is good, I would not make that a goal or even imply it. Good luck out there 🙂

(any brownie points for that?). and may i ask what a slower approach is??
i take it ONE big no no would be to point out if someone was wrong? tee hee hee. problem with that is i CANT STOP myself from pointin out where they are wrong, never have been able to.(did that in college once with a professer..when she finally conceded the point she wasnt a happy camper, course i WAS nice n did it in private..but still..heck even did the same thing in high school.) ..oooh ohhh n my new friend also warned me..to tell someone ‘my gramma hits harder then u”, or crackin jokes right before/durin or after” probably wouldnt fly either…my response’ ‘well if i AM supposedly a ‘brat’ im screwed cuz i can NOT make comments’. ..HOWEVER on the plus side..i guess realizing and admitting it is half the battle right?? I wasn’t trying to be demanding. I mean I did say please. LOL I ended up reading something off of Sparrows page and I have to admit it freaked me out a little. You are right about there being a darker side to everything including discipline. I try to keep an open mind but something’s are just really hard to understand and trust me I have tried. I guess that is why I don’t do a whole lot of exploring on other sites. I feel extremely comfortable here. The word “safe” pops into mind as well. TMT’s page is also good but sometimes her writing is haunting like her story Persephone. I still haven’t left a comment but the emotions generated by that story still show themselves, off and on, a year later. As for Ms. Loki, well it was her site that led me here so I’m eternally grateful. As I have said before she is a very diverse writer and she has shown different sides to the world of discipline. Some of which have been quite entertaining. However, in the end it’s your stories that resonate with me the most. You can feel the commitment and love that your characters have for each other. There is respect and caring. Hmmm kind of reminds me of the few convos I have read between you and TMT.
Anyway, I guess what I’m trying to say is that I have finished my taxes already and I’m a HUGE procrastinator so why haven’t you?
TMT’s story Persephone is very haunting, and unusual, like most of her work. I personally can’t read that one too often, but I do think it’s a beautiful story and shows one aspect of her really quite varied talent. 🙂 I agree that Loki is multi-talented as well. It’s amazing how she can do book covers and games and write just about every plotline under the sun! (Oh, and btw, if you ever like an author’s story you should always make it a point to tell them so as directly as possible. It’s the least we can do for work that has moved us. Authors don’t write just for love, you know. Encouragement is important to any endeavor, and in a solitary one like writing it’s even more important. *getting down off soapbox* 😀 )
Thank you for your kind words about my own stories. For me the best kind of relationships definitely have to have respect and caring. And if the conversations between TMT and myself reflect that, that’s no surprise. Our relationship values respect and caring very highly. In fact, if you’ve seen her post on Love and Spanking, you’ve read about the kind of magic that happens in the best of relationships, including discipline relationships. Needless to say, I agree completely with everything she says.
Edited to add: Re: my taxes, perhaps I have other things going on in my life, which I might not talk about, but which have been taking up a great deal of time? Trust me, I would like to finish them very soon, as I’ll be away from home on April 15.

Ok i’ve been waiting anxiously and semi patiently for some new writing! So any brilliant flowing of words that can formed to become a sentence, that can then be strung together to become a paragraph? Then, those paragraphs become a story? i saw u wrote about moving and taxes (ooh shudder icky), so i GUESS i can allow some more time! 🙂 but please can we maybe get something in say before the end of the year? that should be fair and enough time eh!?! 😛

So as I was painting the fence today in 80⁰ weather because no one was home to tell me that might not be the wisest thing to do at 2 in the afternoon. It caused me to think about a famous brat named Tom Sawyer and his white washing the fence adventure. I now know why he disliked it so much. Anyway, it got me thinking about roles. There are certain roles for women and certain roles for me; or at least what society has raised me to believe. Now this leads me to a question that I absolutely HATE being asked but it never fails to come up when I meet someone new. Ready? “So who is the guy and who is the girl in your relationship?” I guess I should feel some pride in confusing their little stereotyped mind but I can never answer that question to their satisfaction because there is no easy answer. So why do I bring this up? Well it got me thinking. Is there ever a question that always seems to come up when you tell people/or they find out that you’re in a DD type relationship?

I know what you mean about roles and straight people’s “So which one is the guy?” question. I try not to roll my eyes, because sometimes it’s a good teaching opportunity, but sometimes it’s just an idiot. *g* However regarding the “What question comes up when you tell people you’re in a DD relationship?”…..well, I have to admit I don’t “come out” about that.
For one thing, I would define a DD relationship as one in which my romantic partner engaged in discipline with me for the purposes of correction, if not primarily, as least half the time. And I don’t have that kind of relationship. My lover and I engage in it primarily for sexual purposes, though I have been punished for various things on occasion. (Quite undeservedly, of course. *vbg*) I have a discipline relationship with a brat I top, but that’s not a romantic partnership, it’s a valued friendship.
Even if I were in a DD relationship, I think I would find it very difficult to come out about it. I wouldn’t be ashamed of it, because I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it. But it is intensely private to me, as it strikes to the very core of my sexuality. So I can’t answer your question from an experience standpoint, because I don’t have any experience with it. Maybe someone else does and can answer that?
Come to think of it, I’d probably have questions myself about such things. Just in the sense of “So how does it work for you?” I’m always interested in the different ways people conduct their relationships. 🙂

Ok so that can be taken as a positive or negative thing? For you see, you could be telling the truth to get us to leave you in peace, but only telling a partial truth. :p Because you did say a story SHOULD be done by the end of the year, and currently you are working on one. You could write one word or heck one letter a day or per week, and thus “working” on a story. See where the problem lies (and no its not with me), I am just trying to be a “good sort” (*hand over mouth snickering*) and point out some logical conclusions that can be raised! So I’m sure I’m not the only one who would be curious if you could perhaps narrow it down from now, til say, some time next year! 🙂
Allm9, I’m generally a patient sort, and I’ve tried to make allowances because you mentioned something about being new to the scene. However the time has come for me to explain the difference between being playful, and being an obnoxious brat. Now every top is different, but I am going to let you know how I work.
Bratting for me is a part of the interaction between tops and bottoms/brats, but the wisest brats know that it is merely a vehicle to express their mischievous side, and to make a top laugh. Sure, sometimes there are pranks involved, or smart remarks, in order to be spanked. But these should only happen within an understanding that there actually exists a relationship where the top and brat have agreed that spanking will happen. One example is between myself and my brat, where extensive negotiation and continual communication is involved. Another example is the virtual “playing” that happens on the Sapphic Kink Forum, where those involved have the same expectation. Still another is between myself and my lover and sometimes-top, where we engage for our mutual pleasure.
I try to treat everyone I deal with — tops, brats/bottoms, switches and vanillas (if any *g*) — with respect. I hope for the same in return. I don’t mind engaging in joking and teasing and repartee. But constant provoking remarks, disrespectful actions (even describing such actions), and an excess of foul language are not my idea of fun. As I said, every top is an individual, but I think the more time you spend in the discipline community the more you will see that most of us have definite limits as to the amount and type of bratting we will take.
The safest way to proceed is slowly, to check whether a top actually is open to your bratting, and not to assume we are waiting for objectionable behavior as an excuse to spank someone. For myself, I am selective as to who I want to top (except in places like the SK forum, where we all enjoy playing). And if you are at all familiar with Fizzy, you will know I have my hands full. 😀
Now, to address your question about my writing (and btw, questioning a top’s truthfulness falls under the category of “obnoxious bratting”). I honestly cannot say when I will finish my next story. Or even what story that will be. I am working on one at the present, but have several in the queue, in various stages of completion. All joking aside, I very much want to post another….even more than my readers want to read one! But there are lots of things going on at the moment. I hate making excuses, and I truly appreciate my readers’ support and patience. There will definitely be one before the end of the year, and I do hope within a few months. But I’m afraid I can’t promise anything.
Fortunately, there are lots of wonderful writers/stories out there. Perhaps we should start a thread at the SK Forum about that? We can all post our favorite sites/links and have a few more things to read while we’re waiting for Loki’s next book to come out. *g*

Its not so much an excuse as an explanation, swearing is just second nature to me. i was enadated (sp?) with it for my whole life, that half the time I dont even realize I say it, let alone write it. And I know you won’t believe this but I’m honestly not trying to brat (at least I don’t think I am), I’m just sarcastic and a smart aleck, part of it is from my genes, and the rest is life. After years of bullying I learned having sarcasm and a quick wit (quick comeback) made them back down sooner or think it wasn’t getting to you.

Hey, I kind of relate about not having a filter, alm9. Maybe the thing is to find an appropiate outlet for it? Maybe a blog of your own? Or something… I don’t know… And about swearing, it’s the same thing… Maybe find the space where you can get all sweary. I barely swear in my everyday life but I do get sweary with good friends… I don’t know. As a newbie brat myself, I can understand about wanting to just jump in the fun, but we must be patient if we don’t want to get the wrong kind of spanking. 🙂

I do feel for you, Alyx. I often suffer from artist block. It’s normal I spose. It’s a strange beast, and at times torturous, but a great feeling when the dam walls finally burst. I find visualizing that moment can help bring a block to a premature end. But of course, you have to find what works for you.

No, I don’t have biological children, as I consider parenthood to be the ultimate in responsibility, and I don’t feel I have the time or inclination to assume it. (I don’t even own a dog, though I love animals, for the same reason — they deserve the kind of time and attention I don’t have to give at the moment.) However I have discovered an unexpected maternal side to my personality, both with the birth of my youngest niece, whom I adore (and who adores me 🙂 ), and when taking on the occasional brat.
It is interesting how the affection and discipline involved with topping do echo parenting. 😀 Have a great Mother’s Day yourself, hon.

Alyx, may I ask how you got your “stories” page to have the drop-down bar? I’ve been messing around with my blog and trying to figure out how you did it, but I haven’t found anything by googling or looking it up (or trying to) on the wordpress help site. I can figure out how to add the page, but that’s it. I added a page under the “parent directory” of “spanking stories” hoping that it would show up as a link and/or drop down option from that page, but no luck.
Is it an option only available on this particular theme? Or do you have the customizable version of wordpress?

No, I don’t have the customizable version, just one of the free templates (which has caused me no end of grief on occasion, because it really restricts what you can do). But the way I did it was exactly what you said you did — for the story page which I wanted to be on the dropdownlist, I added the main story menu page as a parent directory.
So for example, on the page that has the story Small Town Blues, under “Page Attributes,” “Parent” I selected “Stories” in the dropdownlist (which is the name of my stories page). I also wrote in “1” under “Order” because I wanted it to be listed first. If you already did those things, I’m not sure why it’s not working for you. But you can try the WordPress Forum — they did answer a question from me in the past.

Ah! I got it. Some of the themes support the drop-down menu, and some don’t. The one that I’m using does not, so that is the problem. I am now trying to find a theme that will support a drop-down menu but still preserve my other widgets.

Hi again, Alex. I just graduated high school. Unfortunatley I only had a few sort of friends at high school. I do have a few friends who are very kind :). Unfortunately they live very far away. I feel isoated. I also realized that I was bisexual recently (That was interesting 🙂 ). I have looked at lgbt communities at local colleges, however, many of the colleges in my area closed for the summer.
In conclusion, I am simply feeling scared, and lonely and a wee bit confused. Do you have any suggestions? Do you think that you could help me?

Although I am not Alex I thought I might give you some ideas. First off congrats on graduating high school. That is a big accomplishment! One thing that you can do is look for lgbt groups on campus. I don’t know where you live or how big the community is however; most colleges will have a lgbt group. Prepare for it to be small. Depending on your interests there are some organizations that have lgbt chapters like the Sierra Club. There are also lesbian softball leagues which will run in the summer as well. We’re out there we’re just really hard to find sometimes.
I remember when I first came out to myself. I was just starting junior college. We had no organizations however; I found out one of my professors was gay. I learned a lot from her and felt connected, which was nice. I understand the feeling of isolation. We didn’t have all the internet resources that are now available for your generation. I didn’t find connections until I went off to the University. Enjoy your college years. There is no hurry. I’m sure you will meet and make a lot of nice friends.

Good job getting through high school, btw. That’s a very tough time for many people (I don’t have any really fond memories myself *g*). But hang in there, because if you intend to go to college it’s a great place to meet all sorts of new people and lots of gay/lesbian ones too! It’s normal to feel isolated, even if you have lots of friends. I think it’s a little better now, but when I was your age I didn’t dare come out to anyone. So yes, I felt very isolated. One thing that helped was reading all about other lesbians (both historical books and trashy novels *g*), so I knew I wasn’t alone. Do keep in touch with those understanding friends of yours, even if only online or via phone calls.
Most states have LGBT community centers, so go check them out. Look in your local paper or online, and give them a call. It might be just a struggling little place, but it’ll make you feel good to make the effort and reach out, trust me. And it might also be a place full of cool gay people, including kids like yourself. Just Google your state and LGBT and you’re bound to find something, or check out my link down below.

Or if a known LGBT person is putting on a show, you can sometimes meet people in the audience! I once got hit on watching a Bi singer put on a free show at the local YMCA. I was just leaning against the fence watching her, and some cute girl came up and leaned against the fence too. Then started leaning against me! God, I still remember the feel of her arm. 😀 Anyway, you never know, so don’t give up, okay? Summer won’t last forever, and once college starts it’ll be a whole new world. In the meantime, take some time to learn about the community…it’ll stand you in good stead when you start dating. *g*

Anyway, I was thinking about the gay/bi aspect of your searching, and I completely forgot about the kink aspect! But if you’re here reading my blog, it’s highly likely you’re that way inclined, so let me address that as well.
You’re still very young, and I don’t know how much experience you have (nor I am asking about your private business), but TAKE IT SLOW, okay? It’s one thing to find a queer community, and quite another to explore the kink community. You can get hurt in either, but you can really get physically (and emotionally) damaged with the latter. There’s lots of time to learn about everything, but it only takes one mistake to have memories that will haunt you forever. And wouldn’t you rather have memories of how beautiful and loving and HOT it can be? *g* So be careful about exploring that world, okay? Concentrate on meeting good people, and the other stuff will follow. And don’t believe everything you see on the internet either! For all you know I could be a pervy sweaty guy with a bad comb-over who does this for kicks. *shudder* I’m not, but you don’t know for sure, do you?
