THREE PIECELETS (or maybe just two…)

By Kati

THE FIRST (For Alyx)

Happy X >ln [e^(-4×100) e^(7^4) e^(2×7)]!!!!!!

(Hint: Use basic log-laws and a little Spanish.)
THE SECOND (Or how it starts anyway…)

There it was: the first Christmas song on the radio !

The first Christmas song on the radio was always a special moment like the first snow or that particular moment when you thought “It is spring now”. She was always amazed at how that first Christmas song would put her in this very particular Christmas mood. The four Advent Sundays, first one candle, then two, then three, then four. The gingerbread and fruit cake that was only baked and eaten in the Christmas season, the candles, the darkness in the afternoons, the quieting of nature.

But this Christmas would be different. Possibly quite different. This Christmas she would be many thousand miles away from her home.

It all had happened by chance (if there is such a thing as chance, she thought to herself). Earlier this year, on a frustrating and tiring afternoon she took a break from whatever frustrating and tiring task she was pursuing at that moment and listlessly started to surf the internet. And then she stumbled over this page, a blog to be precise. She started reading….and kept reading….and hours later she was still reading. And all of a sudden she was alive, very alive. These people on this board, they were like her. It wasn’t just the spanking bit, she hadn’t thought about that in many years. She loved how smart and funny and kind they were, it was the banter and the laughter and the discussions, and the help when someone had a question. And then there were these wonderful stories by Alyx on the site that was called Alyxfic.

Well, that was all ten months ago. Back then she had delurked on the board and participated fully, she had found friends, had had a lot of fun and received a lot of help.

And then three months ago it had happened: a conversation had led to another and had led to her becoming a brat of a wonderful Top, a kind and generous and “helpful” board member. And she had learned what “it” was all about and she experienced how much she was helped.

And now it’s Christmas Day, 6:30 p.m. and she has barely begun to write what she had wanted to write… . So in true brat fashion she concludes this beginning right now and says

THANK YE ALL FOR BEING THERE !!!!
A MOST MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR !

Aww, that’s really beautiful, Kati! And so much in the spirit of the season….I found it incredibly touching. I know we are all glad you found the blog, and then the village, and then your top. 🙂 Merry Christmas to you, and thank you for sharing that gift!

(I forgot to mention: I didn’t even try solving that equation! I think I have a slight allergy to math. 😀 )

Thank you Alyx, I’m glad you liked it 🙂 I hope you had a great New Year’s day !

But what do you mean with slight allergy to maths ??????? LOL
Could that possibly mean, that you don’t spend every waking minute trying to solve fascinating equations ?

Thank you so much for maintaining your site and the village year in year out ! It is a tremendous gift for so many of us *hugs* !

Thanks for the gift, Kati. It’s really touching and I know just how you feel. ❤ I saw you drew something. Is that the drawing you promised me? 😛

  3. thanatos150 says:

That’s beautiful Kati! 🙂 Thank you for being there too! *smiles*

Oh, and, I think it’s awesome you did the Christmas equation, though done expect me to try and understand it. XD

    Merry Christmas! 😀

Thank you, Thana ! 🙂 Yes, I have always felt much gratitude for meeting my fellow villagers, some of them, like you, even becoming friends :).
A most happy New Year !

  4. Micah says:

I am so tempted to explain your Math equation but since I cheated and listened to you explain it to someone else I guess I should remain silent. It’s funny how it makes perfect sense when you just know what to look for…
Thank you for the sweet comments Kati. I agree with you about Alyx’s site and the village. I just hope I can live up to your comments about your Top.

Kati- As someone who found this site and delurked around the same time you did, your words have special resonance for me. Thank you for so eloquently describing personal feelings shared, in our own way, by many of us. I too, am grateful to Alyx, and to all of the other villagers, including and especially you, for making this such a special place.

(And I don’t follow your equation, but I’m one of those people of whom former Harvard University Mathematics Professor and folk singer/satirist Tom Lehrer once said– “Base 8 is just like Base 10, if you’re missing two fingers.”)

    • kati000 says:

I am glad my words resonated with you. Yes, the time since Feb. 11th 2014 (the day I joined, I hadn’t really lurked before) had a very special meaning to me, an essential meaning.
I told you before, at some point early on you posted a comment along the lines of “I don’t know if I am going to stay or not” and I just thought :”Please do !”
I am very grateful you did stay, Hupo !

The Tom Lehrer video is great ! Loved it ! And guess what :“Base 8 is just like Base 10, if you’re missing two fingers.” is a truly smart description of what it’s all about !

  6. Peach says:

    Hi Kati,
Thanks for sharing your spanky journey. It’s very heart felt. *hugs* Happy holidays!
Btw, You gonna explain the math to us one of these days?! 😉

  7. Mil says:

Thanks for the gifts, Kati. It’s such a lovely story, and great Alyxfic pic! The equation… is it to work out the speed needed for Santa Kris to circumnavigate the world and spank each of us here all in one night? 😉

  8. kati000 says:

Glad, you liked my miniscule contribution, Mil :).
And YES, you’re the first to understand the true meaning of the formula :D, mate.

  9. bijou56 says:

Hey Kati! I really liked your story. I’m sorry it has taken me a while to post my comments but as I had discussed your post with Snu quite favourably I kinda forgot I didn’t write any of it down. LOL!
It was very touching. I share my feelings through the veil of fiction, so I found this story to be very strong because you simply state “I feel!”. This is something I hope to emulate. Cheers! 🙂
P.S. They always told me BEDMAS would let me solve any equation. I always knew it was a lie! I was proven right when I sat staring at your awesome maths going “Well… I know I have to do those bits first but I don’t know how” LOL!

  10. kati000 says:

Oh, thank you, Bijou ! And what a compliment from a writer ! Thank you 🙂
Actually BEDMAS + a few simple rules really does the trick *nodding* — I will send the solution soon . 🙂

  11. Mil says:

Kati, I have joke just for you…
    Q. What do you call a friend that loves maths?
    A. Algebro

    😀
