Though perhaps this one has some chocolate sprinkles. 😀 It’s Star Trek Voyager (STV), and Captain Katherine Janeway and Seven of Nine (aka, “J/7”) is the pairing. I suspect most people aren’t familiar with the series, but I think you can follow along without having watched it. However if you want to see the two women I’m writing about, check out this clip: STV – I Kissed a Girl (J/7).
Oh, and the story is in the vanilla section, Perchance to Dream.
Is the blond one of the teachers in Boston Public?
Yeah, I’m not a Trekkie, Alyx… My heart belongs to Star Wars, not Star Trek! 😛 But I shall of course enjoy your story either way. Hmmm… maybe someone should write a fan fic about lesbian jedis or something… ❤
One more thing… are there rules for fan fic one should know about before starting? I see you always write a disclaimer. I have been wanting to write some, but I wanna do it right. 🙂
To answer both questions:
1) Yes, Jeri Ryan (the blond one) is in Boston Public.
2) I don’t think there are any “rules” per se for writing fanfic. People have posted their advice on it, though — I’ll leave you a few links to check out, if you’re really interested in writing fanfic. Regarding the disclaimer: people do it because when you use famous characters from published works you are, by definition, breaking a copyright. However don’t assume the disclaimer will help you at all in a legal situation. People do it to cover their butt, but it’s not really worth anything. You’re just trying to say you mean no harm and are making no profit when using someone else’s characters. But it’s still technically wrong.
Here is some advice when writing fanfic. Some of it is good advice for writing in general:
Thanks. 🙂 I’ll have a look. It’s the legal thing that worries me. I don’t want to get in trouble with anyone!
Alyx, Good thing you posted that clip ’cause I’m not familiar with the show and didn’t know if they had a ff thing in it (or was it your imagination). 🙂 Then I realized watching it that the Captain actress is Red in The Orange!! Totally different characters but she is very believable as a tough Russian lady inmate. heheh
Peach, fanfiction is all in our imagination. The same-sex relationships are referred to as “subtext” in fanfic, and in XWP it turned into “maintext” (meaning Xena and Gabrielle developed a lesbian relationship on the show), but most of the time it doesn’t exist. That is why fanfic exists: to satisfy the missing element from the original stories.
I can quite believe Kate Mulgrew as a tough Russian lady inmate, actually. 😆
