Hello lovely readers who hang out at the SD Forum! You may have noticed that the site is not operable at the moment. BickaBecka has asked me to let everyone know that the server is experiencing severe technical difficulties at the moment, for reasons unknown, but one user has speculated that it might be a tropical storm. (You sure it wasn’t an angry top, Becka? :lol:)
I’m sure regular readers will be checking the site constantly, but I’ve told Becka she can post here with any updates, if she has any news. In the meantime *going into top mode* it’s a good chance for all you brats to get your chores done! *stern look* 😉

Eeep! This is eerie! Snu has gone out and told me to clean up around the house before looking at the forum. I thought I had found a way around cleaning up by looking at this site only to be told that SDF is down 😦 and that I should do my chores 😛 How do they do that?
I could tell you, but then according to the Top’s Secret Code I would then have to spank you till your grandchildren walked with a limp. So….best just listen to Snu and enjoy your reward later, hm? 🙂

I should have listened to you Alyx because Snu reads the comments all the time apparently. Although I did do my chores, I did not obey Snu’s instructions properly and proceeded to flaunt my disobedience. As a result I am not allowed computer access for two days and as soon as our company leaves Snu’s has promised me a spanking that will ensure I break my habit of bratting when we have people over *gulp* I’m sorry for goading you, ma’am. I have returned a humbled Brat! Thanks for the hugs, Alyx! Wow, I am not going to do anything to warrant being grounded from the computer again. It sucks! But on the bright side I pined for the internets so much I finished part one of my new story and wrote a blog post in one morning! Perhaps it’s not so bad if it provides this type of motivation. 🙂

While the tropical storm is raging outside, inside the castle it’s spanking business as usual. As Fizzy and Dreamgirl finally were let up and put in the corner with cutey and by, Dreamgirl felt her backside was truly on fire, what with a series of assults during a short period of time (first the hard arm of a robot, then two hard stripes by a chunk of a tree sucker thingy, and then an English hairbrush wielded by Alyx with cooking brandy poured from the evil robot’s joints, and finally an Austrain hairbrush by TMT). She’s VERY remorseful and vowed to be good forever! However, she’d really like to take a swig from that super expensive bottle of brandy… *uh-oh, TMT is glaring and Alyx is flexing her palm again…* ok ok, I’ll settle for a glass of ice cold milk with a handful of chocolate chip cookies. *the other brats are nodding* Think your assistants can help with that??

I can think of LOTS of better things to do than chores while the site is down:
1) napping
2) watching cartoons, or youtube, or spanky vids
3) making rum popsicles
4) thinking of entertaining things to do with glitter
5) putting little presents in a top’s shoes
6) finding hiding places in case a top fails to appreciate the entertainment value of any of the above.
So many possibilities. 😀

I have an update… If I am moving hosts, I might have difficulty doing it before 36 hours from now… so until then, I guess all we can do is hope.
I might shift hosts anyway, even if they do fix it by then, because I really don’t want to have to deal with this again…
P.S. I’m inclined to think it is not the tropical storm… I would have expected total disruption from that, not partial. Also, the area where the server is hasn’t been hit directly, so it would have to have been a routing issue. Which it doesn’t seem to be. It seems to be an internal server problem.

Okay, we’re back up now. It turns out it was a DDOS attack. The analogy isn’t perfect, but it’s sort of like a group of peaceful little community halls (of which SD was one) were having a nice time, and then a whole lot of antisocial persons start a riot outside, and no one can hear themselves think for the noise.
Well… that’s not strictly accurate… more like… if you can only answer 10 questions per second, that’s more than enough, for our little group, but if a bunch of outsiders come along and start asking 200 questions per second, who do you answer? The chances are, it will be the outsiders, and not the locals.
I think I prefer my first explanation, even if the second is more accurate.
Ah, no wonder I received a “not enough connections” SQL error message at one point. I can see things are not quite back to normal, but thank goodness we’re at least able to access the site with patience and repeated requests. Curses on those hackers!
(On the other hand, I created my own version of a DOS attack once by inadvertently programming an endless loop in my code, and it was set to send an email with every pass. It was sending an email a second, which wasn’t too much for an enterprise server like the one at work, but it was still a mess. *shuddering, remembering*)
I am looking at a spanking I guess later today. It seems that I bought the most expensive Martini mixer/shaker. I didn’t mean to…and it was so shiny. I seem to get into trouble even when I don’t even try. PS.I do have chores to do that I still didn’t do since yesterday. Tops pretend that the last statement i made was in code and you can’t read it. I want to get to the chores but I love writing to you guys and reading spanking stories. I just can’t pull myself away.
Hm, poor impulse control — unfortunately a frequent brat trait. A word to the sometimes-unwise: when you are already in trouble, it is advisable you avoid making the situation worse. You might not have meant to overspend, but surfing when you should be doing chores is purposeful. Why not get them over with and then reward yourself later? Just a suggestion. 🙂

Where I am at we have been in a drought since May. We have brush fires all around and some homes in nearby suburbs have been burned. Our area so far has been safe but you never know. If you want to send some of your rain to me I would gladly take it. Also, Its good to have someone to talk to when you are lonely. If it is ok w/ your Top to chat that is. My Top is ok w/ me doing that. Anyway, a good RomCom movie could maybe cheer you up or your fav spanking vid. You choose. I’m sorry to have missed everyone getting into trouble like crazy, though I did have a rather fantastic weekend with family which I think makes up for missing all that.
(And though I’m probably getting swatted already just for my first paragraph in this post, I will say that I did vacuum all of my apartment except my bedroom last night, so most of a chore did get done.)
Cras, I think you will find that trying to use logic to out-argue a top is never a good idea. Even if you win, you will lose. In fact, I venture to say that ESPECIALLY if you win, will you lose. 😆

While i’m gutted that SD is down at the moment, i have to say it has benefited me having no one to chat to (though i miss you all).
I have been sleeping earlier and earlier and today i looked round my house for jobs to do only to discover nothing needed done.
Needless to say the early nights and free time in the day have boosted me immensley.
That being said though, it’ll still be great to get back to chatting :).

Okay, so the DNS update isn’t propagating as fast as I thought it would. I’ve switched back to the old serer for the moment. This does mean that some people might loose access when the DNS DOES update.
I will let you know when everything’s done, in the mean time, please don’t panic if you can’t access the site.

I made a mistake and published the first attempt publicly instead of privately, without letting Fizzy see it first to make sure she was okay with it. So I took it down a second later. Unfortunately it had naturally sent out announcements already of the new post, so people were left wondering what happened to it! 😳
The server is recompiling at the moment to enable gzip. This will make the site faster to access. Please stand by,
GZIP is simply a system where the server sends a zip file instead of a raw page. This is much smaller, so it takes much less bandwidth, and arrives much faster. When it reaches your browser, it’s automatically unzipped, and you probably didn’t even know it happened. For example, this very page was gzipped 🙂
