Miscellany

I know it’s been awhile. I’ve been busy. (I know….when am I not busy? *snort*) Anyway, saw some great films and shorts I’d recommend: “Three Veils,” “You Move Me,” and “Codependent Lesbian Space Alien Seeks Same.” First is serious, last two comedies.

The middle one had a great acronym in it: GOLD, for “good old lesbian drama.” Which is weird because Effing Dykes recently discussed that very same topic. And I have to say I was rather disturbed. Do you think it’s true that the same people who say they don’t want any drama in their lives or relationships are the very ones who are sunk up to their knees in it???

God, that explains a lot.

(A little housekeeping note: I combined the three parts of my last story into one, but still have to figure out how to move the comments over. WordPress doesn’t let you do it any way except manually, and you can’t save the timestamps. *sigh* I miss the days of my own site.)

Of course, if you’d posted it all in one go, you wouldn’t have those problems with moving comments…*looks around the room whistling innocently*

But yeah, I’ve noticed that too, about the people who say they don’t want drama being the ones that are always in it. Though I will admit, I read it and thought “Oh yeah! Absolutely!” but I would not have been able to articulate it so succinctly before someone else said it.

Hope you become less busy soon! (Or at least busy at a level that allows you a little more time to play and write and goof off some.)

    • Alyx says:

Of course, if you’d posted it all in one go, you wouldn’t have those problems with moving comments…*looks around the room whistling innocently*

Oh, is that so? *raised brow* Well, maybe I shall have to post my next story all at once. And password protect it. And give out the password judiciously. Kind of like how Santa leaves toys in some kids’ stockings, and others get a lump of coal. *meaningful look*

(I’m thinking I have to learn how to play and goof off and write while being busy. Hmm…that sounds like something a brat would excel at. *bg* Bratty readers, feel free to offer me advice on that! 😀 )

      • fizzybrat says:

ROTFL I was about to cheer Cras on for letting you have it about withholding story from everyone and then you have to go and make threats! (of course, there are MANY ways around something like that. Some are fun.) 😀

How to play and goof off and write while being busy? you have to ask?? *rolling eyes*
        1. Make a list of what you’re supposed to do.
        2. Don’t do it.
        3. Go out drinking.
        4. Use the voice recorder in your phone or computer and ramble drunken spanking fantasies into it for a while.
        5. Sleep till noon.
        6. Transcribe the recording.
        7. Post it to your blog.

And done! No need to thank me. The result will be its own reward. *vbg*

        • Alyx says:

*ROTFL!* Listen, missy, you REALLY don’t want to hear anything I’ve rambled about while drunk! 😆 *remembering who I’m talking to* Or rather, you probably do, but that’s not going to happen! (On the other hand, I’d quite love to hear what any of you brats would spill when drunk……I’d be waiting with my bag of implements for when y’all sobered up! *eg*)

It’s a good thing I’m a mature and reasonable top. Otherwise I’d be tempted to post my next story in 20 parts! And disable the comments, except at the end. Heheheh.

          • Fizzybrat says:

            *cough*inner brat*cough*

            • Alyx says:

*considering outraged and dignified reply* *considering a raspberry like a brat would do* *deciding to go for the reliable top option*
              *SWAT!* 😀

(I was going to say “good old top standby” but I just knew what you brats would do with the word “old” next to “top”! *snort*)

          • Cutey says:

lol wow Alyx’s inner brat did almost break out. Here is my analysis

” *remembering who I’m talking to*”
hehe quite sub-like. Hmm the threat of Fizzy’s displeasure brings out sub-hood.

“next story in 20 parts! And disable the comments, except at the end. Heheheh.”
20 parts = mocking behaviors hehehe < giggles are very bratty

"*considering a raspberry like a brat would do"
            Raspberry = brat language

"I was going to say “good old top standby” but I just knew what you brats would do with the word “old” next to “top”! *snort*)"
oldtop? topold? The brat-logic has surpassed even me. Alyx must be a bigger brat than me.

            yep yep.
Hey, Fizzy are there tales of brat Alyx you feel like shareing……..

            • Alyx says:

Cutey, not only is your analysis highly inaccurate, but you obviously have FAR too much time on your hands! *stern look* Send me your gf’s email address, and I will be sure to inform her about it. *smack!*

Fizzy has no tales to tell, because there ARE none. (And also because I’m sure she values the ability to sit down.)

            • Cutey says:

I have commandeered Miss Cutey’s little comment box to assure you that this matter will be taken care of shortly…

            • Cutey says:

hehe. I’m still right. Alyx. Tattleing is very bratty behavior. but since I like attention and don’t HIDE me bratty ways. I showed my GF your response. lol

btw she refuses to get her own username because she says she would be known as Cutey’s GF and somehow deep in the Top’s mind this is bad

              • Alyx says:

Your bratty ways would be impossible to hide, missy, so it’s just as well. 😆

I’m sure your girlfriend would be known as herself if she got her own user name, but we’re happy to see her however she wants to post! (Would it make her feel better to be known as “Cutey’s Top”? *vbg*)

            • fizzybrat says:

Hee well Cutey, I have to admit, the “remembering who I’m talking to” was just because she knows that I WOULD want to hear her drunken ramblings, very gleefully, so as to tease her about them. I can guarantee you I do not inspire any sub-like tendencies in Alyx. However, you are dead on with the rest of your analysis.

In fact, Alyx, I am SHOCKED at that outrageous lie there, “Fizzy has no tales to tell, because there ARE none.” *falling off my chair laughing* You are SO lucky that I’m already in trouble today and thus am going to keep my mouth shut. I shall just let the other brats speculate. 😀

              • Alyx says:

To further expound on the uber-brat’s remark, what she frequently inspires in me is the distinct desire to smack repeatedly with my palm until her naughty bottom or my hand (or both) bursts into flames. Alternating just as frequently with the desire to laugh or cuddle in equal measures. 🙂

And young lady, YOU are lucky you were in trouble today (and tomorrow, for that matter), which cautioned you to keep your mouth shut! *warning look*

As for the allegations that there are any tales to be told….*cough*….I plead the Fifth. 😉

            • Cutey says:

ummm so Alyx I’ve been told to apologize for antagonizing you….. so here it is

              lol 🙂

              • Alyx says:

Well, I’ve certainly heard more enthusiastic apologies. 🙂 But I am glad to see your gf has taken you in hand. *eg* Thank you for that apology, Cutey.

      • cras says:

*Looks outraged, Outraged, I tell ya!* What? Here you were complaining about a technical problem you’re having with your site and I offered a perfectly sensible and reasonable solution and you start threatening me?…Although actually, with the price of coal and the need for such fuels in winter, by all means, leave that in my stocking. *winks*

Also, Alyx, sweetie, darling, if you’re having to ask how to goof off, then clearly you haven’t been paying enough attention to the brats around here. We are shining examples of how such things. And I second Fizzy’s first two steps. That’s always been my favorite way of goofing off (as I’m sure you’re well aware *g*). Any steps after that can just depend on your personal preferences.

        • cras says:

          *how such things work.

Clearly the level of my typing skill is fluctuating based on the phases of the moon. (Or it might be all that sleep I’m not getting, but I’m going with the first option.)

          • Alyx says:

It surprises me not at all that you would endorse Fizzy’s suggestions, Cras. And I agree, you two are shining examples of naughty behavior at its finest worst!

In fact there seems to be a general brat insurrection recently. *narrowed gaze at SP, Cutey, and Sandy as well* I obviously need to tighten up the reins* around here.

*(Except that I suspect the thought of that is more reward than discouragement with this crowd! *bg*)

          • Alyx says:

P.S. Oh, changed my mind about the coal in stocking. Would leave a switch instead.

            • cras says:

Well, a switch is just really good kindling. (Or it would be by the time I got through with it because I certainly wouldn’t leave something like that lying around long enough for anyone to use!)

And I’ve no idea what you mean about an insurrection. It looks like perfectly normal brat chatter to me. 🙂

              • Alyx says:

Kindling is much too thick…a good switch is whippy. *eg* And if any brat of mine burned the implement I was intending to use on her, I’d set her own bottom on fire using three different alternatives! Just FYI. 😉

“Perfectly normal brat chatter” and “insurrection” are difficult to tell apart sometimes. *nods*

  2. Cutey says:

I agree about the drama. But I have found that the best way to deal with it is to pretend its not happening.

  3. SP says:

Drama huh. Aren’t there “good” dramas and “bad” dramas though? Gotta have some! *smile and wink*
Alyx, your old site is great except we can’t post comments at all. This one is more “reader friendly.” Heehee. And we can bug you here too. LOL

    • Cutey says:

Well. I do also have a laugh after I pretend nothing’s happening. It’s entertaining to watch how long people will ramble on to themselves even though your not responding. Plus, it always makes the other person look bad and you look mature.

    • Alyx says:

I guess you’re right about good dramas and bad dramas, SP. Though right now I’m trying to think up an example of a good drama and am not coming up with any! *LOL*

I don’t think this site is any more reader friendly, as the old one read just fine. What you mean is that it’s more brat friendly, because it allows you brats to stir up trouble! 😉

  4. sandy says:

Surely eveyone has a certain level of drama in their lives, regardless of whether they want it or not. However, I do think some people (the ones who say they don’t like drama), always seem to attract more than their fair share. These same ones usually either start it all off in the first place, keep it all going once it has started, or both. It’s entertaining sometimes!

Outstanding advice from Fizzy there, Alyx! If you decide to take it, I have an excellent hangover cure….you just can’t shake it off easily when you’re more mature!
Oh, and a word of warning, stay well away from Tequila!!

    • Alyx says:

I agree that some people attract more drama than others. Is there such a thing as a person who attracts people who attract drama? *g*

It doesn’t surprise me that you would also agree with Fizzy, Sandy. You two do have some traits in common… *cough* ingrained brattiness *cough*. 😀

Excellent hangover cure, eh? *bracing self* Okay, what is it? No worries on the tequila, though. I’m careful these days not to overindulge. Feel free to share any stories about why you have knowledge of an excellent hangover cure, however. 😉

  5. Loki Renard says:

Er, at the risk of ‘starting drama’, it makes absolute sense that the people saying they don’t want drama are the ones knee deep in it. People only become aware of drama when they’re in it, so when you hear someone say they don’t want drama it’s usually because they’re already experiencing it in their lives.

For example, you don’t go around saying ‘I don’t want mayonnaise,’ do you? Not until someone tries to give you unwanted mayonnaise anyway. And that’s the point at which someone could glibly point out that the people who don’t want mayonnaise are the very same people with the mayonnaise hovering over their plates. Then they can also point out that maybe these so called ‘mayonnaise haters’ secretly want the mayonnaise, or worse still, maybe they’re the ones causing the mayonnaise in the first place.

The whole thing strikes me as a slightly more sophisticated version of ‘who smelt it, dealt it’ and we all know how horribly flawed that argument can be.

    • Alyx says:

Thank you for your always dramatic point of view, Loki! 🙂

Seriously, I find this post both funny and reassuring. Only you would think to compare it to mayonnaise (which also inspires strong feelings, of course). But I was truly worried (underneath it all) when it seemed the Effing Dykes readers were overwhelmingly convinced that those who decried drama actually loved it. Of course, they are a young lot. (Not that there’s anything wrong with that, just that it means they’ll tend to have a certain, sometimes inexperienced, POV.) Anyway, what you say makes sense.

(Never heard that “who smelt it, dealt it” phrase….sounds useful. *bg*)

      • Loki Renard says:

        You callin’ me dramatic, Alyx?

I went back to the Effin’ Dykes page you linked to, but ye. fucking. gods. What is with the need to intersperse three lines of text with every picture of every lesbian on the planet?

Something to do with short attention spans, perhaps? Worried that people won’t keep reading if there aren’t tangentially related pictures cluttering up their retinas? Can’t make a point unless you do it in three different fonts with rainbow colors?

You know what’s dramatic? That site is dramatic. A dramatic insult to good taste and my eyes.

        / end dramatic rant *grin*

        • Alyx says:

You do tend to express yourself rather dramatically, Loki. And I say this with the utmost respect. *g*

But you’re absolutely right, next to the Effing Dykes blog, you are positively calming. 😉 I find it refreshing (and reassuring….hm, I seem to be in need of much reassuring these days *snort*) that you find the way she expresses herself objectionable. The pictures she uses crack me up sometimes (for instance, this one), and I tend to overlook the riot of colors and fonts because I’m concentrating so much on the message. But I would have assumed that that site would appeal to you as it does to her legions of fans because you are all sort of “of the same generation.” Teaches me (again) never to make assumptions, eh? 😀

          • Loki Renard says:

It’s all in good fun I’m sure. I find the style distracting from the message, but that’s probably my fault. Can legions of fans be wrong? Fuck no.

  6. “In my stars I am above thee; but be not afraid of greatness: some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon ’em.” (Shakespeare, Twelfth Night)

I think it is pretty much the same with drama – very much agree Loki in that objecting to ‘too much drama’ can only be as a result of feeling overwhelmed by it.

There are people who make everything dramatic, even if it isn’t, even if what is going on is relatively trivial. Then there are those who seek out dramatic situations because they need and want a lot of attention from those around them. Others wake up one day and randomly, chaotically, the sky falls in on their head. Then again, if you are born into a drama and live your life beginning to understand that it is both *not your* drama, but, by the fact that it is your personal history, also your drama, it takes a long time to learn how to unravel the crises and lead an uneventful life.

    • Alyx says:

Wow, first Loki Renard graces my blog, now the most esteemed TMT! *bows* And all on an off-chance remark about drama. *bemused smile*

Thank you for your very poetically expressed opinion, Aer. What you say makes a lot of sense, and again, reassures me. It also makes me reflect that there are probably people more and less well-equipped to handle “drama.” Both by their natures and their experience. And then maybe what some people call drama is merely life happening, but they are at a loss as to how to handle it. Which goes back to what you said about feeling overwhelmed.

I do have a very good friend who created a nick for her email address which was basically “nomoredrama,” and then experienced what we in the islands call “bachi” — it is jinxing yourself to create such a name! 😀

    • Loki Renard says:

My favorite part of this post, (apart from the part where TMT totally agreed with me – awesome) was the part where Shakespeare was used to addressed the subject of drama. That is some classy-ass subtle meta commentary right there.

  7. Loki Renard says:

Balls. My correctional comment was eaten by your blog. At any rate, I didn’t mean to write ‘used to adressed’. I have better England than that. Clearly what I meant was ‘useded to adresser’.

  8. fizzybrat says:

Ha Loki I think you nailed it even before the randomly apropos mayonnaise analogy. 🙂

Personally, I want comedy in my life.(speaking of Twelfth Night) The kind where the wacky misunderstandings and Fizzy embarrassing herself end with affectionate laughter and happily-ever-after-until-the-sequel.

  9. Cutey says:

I got the point I even agree. When your surrounded by something you say you don’t want it.

and I am a brat. I also have never made a point with mayonnaise. I must strive to fix this problem apparently it will give me top cred.

    yep yep

  10. cutey says:

btw Alyx why are there weird cartoons next to the usernames…and how did i get to be a strange unhappy triangle? When I think of a cartoon to represent me I think of a adorable pixie or puppy.

    • Alyx says:

Cutey, you can eliminate the default cartoon chosen for you (I didn’t pick it, WordPress did *g*) by uploading your own photo to represent you. Such as a naughty adorable pixie or puppy.

      • SP says:

I was wondering why you gave me an upside down nasty looking triangle too! lol Thank you for clearing that up. Ok, maybe when I get a chance I’ll upload a pic of … ummm… a round juicy peach perhaps? heehee

  11. Cutey's Top says:

I think your cartoon should be include an annoyed gf telling you to stop your bitching already.
Btw nice to meet you Alyx. I have been forced to read sooooo much about you… One of my favorite compulsory reads.

    • Alyx says:

*LOL* It’s nice to make your acquaintance, Cutey’s Top. I’ll bet you have your hands full, but are really doing an admirable job! 😀 I’ve enjoyed your blog as well — you certainly have a interesting view of life and I can see why Cutey is so proud of you. *smile* Those sports pics of the day are wild, though. Can’t believe the kinds of photos you dig up sometimes. *g*
