It’s not the editor’s fault!

I’ve been accused of implying that I’d finished the story I’ve been working on, and that it was the editor holding things up. But that’s very unfair. Y’all may have inferred it, but I definitely did not imply it!

So okay, to clear up any misconceptions: I have not finished the latest story I’m working on. I’m about…*thinking*….85% done, I’d say. But I have not been working on it as much as I should’ve. Or could have, even. I have no good excuse, I just haven’t done it.

Perhaps I lack the proper motivation. πŸ˜†

Okay, okay, no more joking around. I know you’re waiting, and you’ve been very patient. I’ll try to force myself to finish it soon. I promise. And then the blameless editor can get her hands on it. πŸ˜‰

Can’t wait! Finish the ding-dang thing!

    • Alyx says:

ROTFL! Young lady, I will ignore the impatience and rudeness in that, because I do sense a genuine level of frustration there. πŸ™‚

I will try to finish soon, I promise.

  2. fizzybrat says:

I know what “motivation” you’d suggest if I were the one procrastinating. Just sayin’. πŸ˜†

    • Alyx says:

Yes, and you’d deserve every wallop! Not only that, it would be good for what ails you. *nodding*

But for me….I think sending baked goods would be more appropriate. Especially with chocolate or lemon in them. πŸ˜€

      • SP says:

I made a lemon lava cake for Easter! Yum. Just imagine I ate a huge slice on your behalf *vbg* Enough motivation?? LOL

  3. BickaBecka says:

I can so relate to that… but I do look forward to reading it πŸ™‚

  4. Loki Renard says:

Maybe it’s time somebody set up a collection of something (maybe microwave pastries, or pop tarts…. omg… pop tarts!) to help Fizzy motivate Alyx properly. It has been far, far too long since a new story came out. Far too long. *serious face*

    • Alyx says:

Microwave pastries?! I’d rather eat ground up crack pipes than microwave pastries! πŸ˜† No, I’m kidding. I just couldn’t resist using your own highly descriptive phrase. (You ever have cinnamon and brown sugar pop tarts toasted with just a bit of butter drizzled on them? Even my Dutch ex thought we Americans were brilliant for inventing that one! *vbg*)

Loki, not everyone has your ability to crank out stories at a fast pace. Well, maybe they do but their stories are dreck. What’s the secret, huh? YOU must have one heck of a motivator hidden someplace! πŸ˜‰

      • Loki Renard says:

Ground up crack pipes huh? You do have a long memory πŸ˜€ I’m not planning on writing anything new in the near future, so I reckon I’ll just join the hordes crying out for your stories here.

        For the horde!

    • fizzybrat says:

Oooh pop tarts are a good idea! I keep sending her pictures of chocolate chip scones with lemon curd, but it doesn’t seem to be working. Perhaps I should promise her the actual scones, instead of eating them myself? πŸ˜† I’ve also been very good this week so she won’t be distracted over the weekend – I agree with SP, Alyx, I think you have to finish in the next few days or you’ll have a reader riot on your hands. Game on! πŸ˜€

      • Alyx says:

Yes, YOU, young lady *swat! *whack!* are the worst of the bunch with your photos of chocolate chip scones. *suppressing moan* I’d post them for everyone to see what kind of torture I must put up with, but then I’D be guilty of food porn! :p

But if you can continue your “good” behavior (Tops out there — it’s all so relative, isn’t it? *snort*) then I will do my best to finish this weekend. There, I said it! And as far as that riot is concerned — bring on the brats, I’ve got the implements! *rubbing hands together* Heheheh.

  5. SP says:

Alyx – Judging from your other readers’ responses, I think it’ll be a good idea to get your story finished this weekend and posted by next Monday, unless you want a cyber riot right here, on this site!!!
Not trying to instigate anything …LOL

    • Alyx says:

No, of course not, you’re not trying to instigate anything. *swat! swat!* Just like Sandy wasn’t. Just like Loki wasn’t. *narrowed-eyed look* It’s a mutiny! I’ll be forced to line you all up and run up and down the line swatting rebellious backsides with my favorite strap. *thinking about that* Hmm…..wait a moment, why am I complaining??? *vbg*

  6. Cutey says:

    Hey

    Isn’t the weekend officially over?

    *looks around for story
    *pouts after finding none

    • Alyx says:

Geez, you brats don’t let anyone rest, do you! *bg* I will probably finish tonight, if the electricity holds out. It’s thunder and lightning over here and the lights are blinking a LOT! *shiver* Going to unplug my precious desktop computer now, but will try to work on my laptop.

5/3: Edited to add that I never did get to work on my story, I’m afraid. Not only was there the mother of all lightning storms, but my niece was over and I had to baby-sit. That kid is cute, but definitely a brat in training. *bg* Should be able to work on it tonight, though. Promise.

  7. Dreamgirl says:

    Alyx
Can you please seriously finish it, like asap already?! I desperately need a new story to recharge my mind so I can concentrate on studying!! Hmm, come to think of it, if I don’t do well on the finals, can I blame it on you? lol *eg*

    • Alyx says:

Oh lord, the drama! You desperately need a story so you can study properly?! If my brat tried that one on me the story she’d END UP hearing would be “The Sound of Hairbrush on Naughty Bottom,” part 1! (And knowing my brat, there’d be sequel after sequel….a veritable series!) πŸ˜†

So yeah, you try that excuse for doing poorly on your finals, young lady, and let us know what TA’s response is. *eg*

  8. 1chicklet says:

    Alyx,

The weekend has come and gone and still no story. 😦 Though I can understand that mother nature isn’t making things easy on you…please see it from our point of view…we still have to have our work submitted by the deadlines regardless of the nasty weather about. If all else fails consider it a B-day gift.
    1chicklet

    • Alyx says:

Well, now, 1chicklet, if it brings you out of hiding how can that be a bad thing? πŸ™‚

It is fortunate indeed that I don’t get paid for it. πŸ˜† However contrary to popular opinion I do take the responsibility seriously. So I will stop hanging about this blog and go write. Right after dinner. πŸ˜‰ Maybe I’ll put a little teaser up for people later.

(Oh, and is it your b-day, then? Would you like a spanking instead? *eg*)
